At a meeting with financial analysts, Microsoft COO Kevin Turner said women now make up 40 percent of Xbox Live users. All Things D reported that Microsoft’s message was about its transition to devices and services model. “That’s a giant change from when we launched out platform,” said Turner.
Microsoft also says Xbox is no longer a gaming-only brand. They revealed a statistic that 42 per cent of Xbox Live subscribers use the service to watch at least 30 hours or more of movie/television content each month.
With the increase of casual gamers buying mobile devices, it will be interesting to see how much they can broaden the Xbox brand’s appeal over the next few years.
