This week brings a few new downloads to the Wii U and 3DS eShop, but we wanted to highlight our top recommendations.

Top Recommendations

Uncharted Waters: New Horizons (Wii U eShop – Virtual Console – $7.99): Koei’s Uncharted Waters is a strategy game with a few RPG elements thrown into the mix. You can play as six different characters who each have their own individual storylines. This means each time you play, you can play the game from a new perspective.  The game was originally released on the SNES.

River City Ransom (3DS eShop – Virtual Console – $4.99):  River City Ransom, also known as “Street Gangs” in Europe, was always one of my favorite games for the NES.  The game is a side-scrolling beat em up with the core gameplay being similar to games such as Renegade or Double Dragon. As you may expect, you can pick up weapons or outside objects to defeat enemies and clean up the streets. Unlike some games that haven’t aged well, the gameplay in River City Ransom is still fun and enjoyable after all of these years. Also, if you are up for some multiplayer action, you can play with a friend via two-player Download Play.

Senran Kagura Burst (3DS eShop – $29.99): XSeed’s high speed, beat-em-up fighting game features an advanced aerial combo system and stylized action. The game includes the original Senran Kagura (only released in Japan) as well as a bonus second story with a similar length.

Jett Rocket II (3DS eShop – $8.99):  Released yesterday in the eShop, Shin’en Multimedia’s Jet Rocket II is a full 3D action adventure that has you exploring your home planet using your jet pack.  This gorgeous game runs at a super smooth 60 frames per second and uses full stereoscopic 3D.

Sonic Lost Worlds (Free Demo – Wii U and 3DS eShop): If the mixed reviews are scaring you from purchasing “Lost Worlds”, there is some good news. A free demo is now available on the Wii U and 3DS eShops which means you can try it before you buy it.

Maybe

Mario & Sonic at the Sochi Winter Olympics (Wii U eShop – $49.99): If you’ve enjoyed all of the past Mario & Sonic Olympic games, there’s a chance that you may enjoy this newest addition. But in my opinion, if you’re looking for a $50 Wii U game that emphasizes the GamePad’s capabilities and multiplayer fun, then I would suggest buying Wii Party U at retail stores instead.
